Bad delivery and installation furniture

1. We are purchase the Gregory Swivel Chair online and pay for delivery and installs. When delivery came they are just drop off the chair in living room and did not install the wheel that come with the chair. I call Room To Go customer service and they agree to mail the wheel to me. 2. Last week we our purchase a complete bedroom set for our daughter at Room To Go showroom also pay for deliver and installs. During the installation the delivery/installation crew damage the furniture and try hidden their mistake by push it against the wall. We found out 20 minute later and call Room Go To customer service they agree to send a technician to our house on Thursday (1/24/13) to see rather the damage can be repair or replace. I expect the damage furniture should be replace not repair. I will continue to update these post after the technician inspected the furnitures.

Of cause their puppet employee is shocked that you received junk. I have a better chance of becoming pope then you have of getting the funiture replaced. If they did replace it all you would get is more junk.

Guest

I’m shocked to hear about the problems you have had with each of your deliveries. I can assure you that this isn’t normal as the majority of our deliveries are completed in showroom condition and wouldn’t expect a customer to except and keep damaged products. If you want to send us the order info along with the details of what happened to Tellus@***.com, we’d be more than happy to take a look to see what is going on and what other options we may have available for you.

Bad service

My wife and I brought a dining room table about a year ago. Now I'm not the dinner table type person so the only time we ever sat at that table was Xmas and thanksgiving. Long story short we have always been respectful customers and we've always paid on time. infact I always recommend their store. Well I needed to move the table so my friend and I got opposite ends of the table as you normally would and as we went to move it it completely broke down. The leg on the table was held together by glue and toothpicks it was not safe to be In anyone's house. Thank god my 6 yr. old got out the way in time before he got hurt by that 300. Pound table. I called the store asked to have it fix was told no in such a rude manner I asked to speak to another manager who was even worse than the first customer service guy infact the higher up I went the ruder they got. Their response was oh well not our fault we cannot and will not help you.

I’m surprised to hear about this, not only because of the way that the table suddenly broke but also because of the construction that you described. I can assure you that Rooms To Go takes pride in the quality of the products that we sell and stand behind all new purchases with a one year warranty against manufacturer defects. If you can send us pictures of the table along with your order details over to us at Tellus@***.com, we can take a look to see what type of options we may have available for you.

I bought a red leather couch. It was on sale at $1500.

Regular over $2000. I thought I was buying a leather couch that would last for a long time. $1500 is not a cheap couch. After having it only 6 months the leather starting flaking off!

Piece by piece. If this was going to happen you would of guessed it would happen where you sit. But NO! It starting around the sides where it never gets touched by anything or anyone.

Now my couch is 11 months old and it looks horrible.. OMG! it is actually falling apart. They said that this was leather and the best out there.

What ever. I don't know what this is but not leather. I called the store and they said NO WARRANTY! I bought it on sale!

My fault. Yes, I bought the couch at the present condition. I did not agree to buy a couch that would not even last 1 year.

NEVER BUY HERE! There stuff is ***!

I've had the exact same issue on an entire "leather" set including a sofa, lovesear and chair. I contacted customer service and they haven't even bothered to respond. I'm livid and I will never purchase anything from Rooms To Go again.

Guest

Same here. Bought red leather sectional-supposed to be real leather sofa..not vinyl..or anything else.

Called RTG when it started flaking and peeling..her suggestiin was, " well you could have it recovered". It wasdelivered to me with a nick on the back, they came out I thought to replace the piece but they covered with red marker. No where did it(does it) say bonded leather as I noticed another post had mentioned knowing the difference between topgrain and bonded. Crazy to pay any amount of money for a sofa to last less than a year- i had no idea.

Very disappointed. Also bought from them previously with bedroom furniture and coffee table entertainment armoir with bookshelf. Not disappointed at all.

The sofa is and willbe the last thing ever bought from them. Lack of customer servc regarding my call when I questioned it..just awful

Guest

Hello Shelly. I do appreciate what you said.

I am not a cheap person. But Rooms to Go is growing very fast in the Houston market. They are adverting that the furniture is theirs. They make it and this is why we are able to do this and some wonderful prices.

When a major company says that this is awesome leather, furniture, etc and that they back up everything they sale. They are advertising all the time. Stores are popping up all over. You have to believe them.

They just built a huge warehouse in Sugarland. Its humongous.! I really thought we found a great place to do business. If a huge company that is growing so fast and saying that their stuff is real and will hold up better than everyone else.

You kind of believe them. If this is the way that they are going to do business, the people need to stop them fast. I cannot believe that they think that they can continue to grow if they lie and their stuff is ***.

As a consumer, you would think the management needs to know. They will fall fast flat on their face.

Guest

Shelley, I wish I had done more research about leather before going to RTG. Unfortunatley I relied on the TRG salesman.

I assumed he knew what he was talking about and would be honest. In my case, this was my third set. The first two were not \"leather\". The first set snagged the first time it was used.

I was told it was very durable and long lasting fabric. The second set was red fabric and the color came off on my son\'s white shorts and my white rug.

So as you can see by my comments as well as plenty of other unhappy consumers, RTG has more problems than their \"leather\". Legal action may be the only way to protect other unsuspecting consumers to make a costly mistake.

Guest

Rooms to go does not use Top Grain leather.. if they did you would be paying a lot more than 2000.00 for a couch.

Think about it... TOP GRAIN leather for 2 grand? Seriously folks.. you need to educate yourself when purchasing anything.

Think about it.. If Leather Creations (which uses TOP GRAIN LEATHER) not bonded (please read up on what bonded leather is) sells the same couch for over 4 grand... What do you think? I think you all should take this a life lesson and own up to the fact that you are cheapskates and paid for what you bought.

ROOMS TO GO furniture! Duh! Go to Thoomasville or Haverties.. Real furniture stores and you will see the difference.

If you bought the same *** at sam's club or costco.. you would be dealing with the same issues.. When you sit on a real piece of leather you shouldn't sweat.. if you do it's not real leather..

it is processed leather.. think processed chicken..it's still chicken but it cost pennies compared to REAL chicken. Like ALL things in life you get what you pay for. My small leather sectional cost over 5 grand on sale..

it was TOP GRAINED leather.. and 5 years later it was still TOP GRAIN leather.. sold it for 3 grand because it aged like real leather should and wore like real leather... Also keep in mind that REAL top grain leather shows it's age...

it fades.. gets water spots.. wears like leather shoes.. you have to condition it several times a year and keep it out of the sun..

the lower quality stuff does none of these things (which some people may want this) I know my designer friend loves lower forms of leather that have been treated for this reason. Sorry to be so harsh with you guys but I hate when people don't take responsibities for their own actions... If I were ever on a jury with a lawsuit like this you would get zero and I would say grow up and think for yourself. Remember a fool and their money are soon parted.

If you buy a chopped steak and then get mad because it didn't taste like Filet.. well I am back to you get what you pay for... I just bought a couch from Thomasville... cost over 3 grand..

The fabric alone cost me 40 bucks a yard.. I am sure Rooms to Go has one that looks just like it for 500 bucks.

Would I ever expect that it would look/wear the same as my 3 grand sofa? NO ss

Really, go to Havertys? Read the reviews of Their leather couches that the color wears off to orange!

And seams coming apart. Junk!

The leather is spray painted not dyed through. Read all the terrible reviews about customer svc and warranties denied too.

I purchased a "leather" 3 piece set from the Greensboro, NC store after problems with 2 other sets. The "leather" is flaking every where.

We even paid more to "upgrade" to leather. I'd love to see a class action suit or something done to get their attention.

jovenas - my husband and I were saying the exact same thing last night. As our sofas look the same it can only help us both!

We had to send the manufacturer's name to the attorney today - we also sent him an e-mail of your pictures and complaint - please friend me on Facebook so we can keep in touch on this issue. If there is anyone else out there with their "high quality leather furniture" from rooms to go flaking, or looking like *** - please let me know. Maybe a Class Action lawsuit will wake them up.

Laurie Qualls - profile picture on facebook is one of my dogs looking out window. Thanks - Its time someone at Rooms to Go listens and responds with a solution to this mess.

Guest

Please tell your attorney that there are other people with the same problem. I would be more than happy to tell him my story also.

I wonder if he would do a class action law suit and work for free for everyone and he would make big bucks with the lawsuit. Currently my couch is actually falling apart more that you see.

Poor Customer Service @1960/249

We purchased a mattress set last month from this store. I was excited to purchase the set to get the free 32" TV.

I was told I needed to purchase the water proof mattress pad in order to get the warranty. I told the sales person I already had a brand new water proof mattress pad. I told her what type of bed we had & the delivery was set up. The delivery guys didn't call they just showed up early in the morning.

Once delivered, the set was to high for our bed. I immediately called the store to be told my sales person would be in soon. Then I was told she was busy and would call me back. I called again and finally spoke with her & told her that we needed the low profile box spring.

I told her that we would drive to the warehouse in Brookshire to exchange the box spring that same day. I was told we couldn't do that. We had to come back to the store so they could do a exchange and pay a additional $39 to get the low profile box spring. I didn't care about the $39, I wanted to be able to sleep comfortably in my bed & not have to wait another week for delivery.

The store mgr. was not knowledgeable at all & initially told us a different amount to exchange the box spring. Oh & by the way the mgr. was quick to tell me that ROOMS TO GO does not accept returns, which is something the sales person never told us.

We will not be doing business with them in the future!

Sales people lie to you about delivery of your furniture!

I ordered close to $3000 worth of furniture - when they wanted to schedule the delivery on Friday, I told them I COULDN'T be there in the morning due to previous appts. I couldn't cancel. Their sales person said "no problem", we can deliver it in the afternoon...so I said OK. Now they have called and said they can only deliver it Friday morning - when I CAN'T be home!!! I called them, spoke to the manager and he said there's nothing he can do - if I'm not home, the furniture goes back to the warehouse and it will be at least TWO WEEKS until they can schedule another delivery! Said there's nothing they can do about it! Don't buy from here - buy from a furniture store that actually tells the truth and has some decent customer service. Not that they actually exist!!!

You must not have done your homework. It is well known that Rooms to Go Sells junk.

Before you spend that kind on money you need to look at funiture stores that have a good reputation.

I bought a leather couch from Haverty's 20 years ago and it looks as new as the day I bought it. It is also real leather not blended leather that falls apart.

I’m sorry to hear about the misinformation that you were told at the time of sale. Broken Love Seat

I purchased a San Mateo love seat for my 91-year old father who lives in an upscale retirement home. My dad, who barely weighs 140 lbs. rarely sits on the sofa. When we were getting ready to move him from Assisted Living to the nursing home wing of the retirement home, we noticed that one end of the love seat was sagging and had become dis-attached from the arm. Upon close inspection, we could see that the love seat is made of inferior materials - particle board - and attached with glue. The love seat is less than two years old, but is outside of the one-year warranty. When I called to complain, I was asked if I'd purchased an extended warranty. Of course not! Who does that for FURNITURE?! I've done so for appliances and electronics, but not furniture! I see now what their scam is - they sell you cheap ***, but charge high prices so you'll think you're getting quality. They then either make money on the original purchase knowing the furniture will last at least a year after which they wipe their hands of responsibility, or they sell you an expensive extended warranty, double-dipping by getting a lot of money from you twice. Don't bother to shop at Rooms to Go. Stay with local merchants who have to stand behind their products.

I’m sorry to hear about the problems that your father is experiencing with the loveseat. Rooms To Go does provide a one year warranty against manufacturer defects, but certainly expect for our products to last much longer than that.

With the warranty period being expired, the options may be limited but we would still like to take a look to see if there may be anything that we can do to help out still. If you can, please send us an email over to Tellus@***.com with the order information and if possible some pictures of the problem that you described and we can go from there.

Poor quality furniture.

We furnished our brand new house two years ago with furniture from this store. It was a dinning table and chairs, a bed- room set with a new bed and a living room set. We had to replace the bed about a year later because it had deformed and created dips in the areas we slept. The dinning table I had to replace the screws with bigger ones to make it tight again and the frame of the sofas are falling appart. Contacting the store was a waste of time since they did not have any interest in doing anything to make it good

Leather coming off

They tell you get store credit. Not enough to replace your furniture. We spent almost $3500 and they only offer $1100. I would never buy anything from them again. They told us that it was leather, but it is blended leather. We all need to get a class action lawsuit started and not settle till we get our money back. Where we bought our furniture the guy who sold it to us now is the store manager! So they do tell the true and get promoted. I will tell anybody who will listen not to buy anything from this company.

Damaged furniture delivered

The chasis part of the sectional sofa we bought was damaged, had a nail protruding from inside through the leather and posing as a risk to my kids as it was extremely pointed and sharp. The replacement came a week later, but it was much worse. The leather was worn off at multiple spots and I was able to see the cloth inside the leather. The threads were all loose and it seemed like a used piece to me. The third replacement came today and has the leather worn off at the bottom at one spot. Again I can see the cloth inside. I am tired of this. To add to the pain, on asking the store sales person, he said we cannot return the product. Which means I am going to be FORCED to keep a damaged product on paying full sales price on it. I have been a loyal customer of Rooms to go for last 11 years. But never again will I set a foot inside RTG. They were a better company before. Not any more.

Broken Couch

My wife and I have purchased a few things from Rooms To Go in the past, the most recent items that we purchased consisted of a pull out couch and a matching love seat. Within weeks a major support in the pull out couch had broken and they replaced the couch. A few months later the love seat suffered a catastrophic failure, which caused one of the arms to lose shape. Unfortunately the couch was then out of warranty. I just took a look at what had failed, and it is a rotten piece of wood that never should have been installed. The couch consists of particleboard, cardboard and staples. It was inevitable that the wood would fail as it did. I can’t believe they sale the furniture they do, at the price we purchased it for, with the materials used.

Lie to about their exchange policy

I have purchase a $7000 temperpedic bed from rooms to go in March. After 3 weeks of sleeping on the bed I was having back problem and waking up everyday with my body all sore.

When I purchase the mattress I was not told by the sales person that there was a no return/exchange policy. I have called the sales person concerning my problem with the bed and was told that they will exchange my mattress for another one. So I went back to the store to look for another mattress to exchange. The sales rep recommed that I get another temperpedic bed that was firmer since the one that I got might be to soft.

At that time I felt that another temperpedic bed wasn't going to do me any good since I have problem with the first bed that I got. The sales person assure me that if I was going to have the same problem with the bed they will be happy to exchange for another mattress until I was happy with the mattress. I ended paying an additional $600 for an upgrade on the new mattress. Three week later I was still having the same problem that I had with my first mattress so I called the sales rep to tell him that the mattress was not working out and I am still having the same problem.

The sales person told me that he would speak with his manager and call me back. After 1 week of waiting he never called. I tried to call serveral time speaking with him but was unable to get him on the phone. After many attempt calling him I finally got a hold of him.

He told me that they were not able to exchange my mattress since they did not have an exchange policy. The sales person clearly told me that they will exchange my mattress if I was still having back problem with the bed now he's telling me that there is nothing he can do to help. I was lied to by the sales person and now I am stuck with a bed that I can't even sleep on. I felt that there custumer service is poor and the sales person shouldn't be able to lie to customer like that.

I have tried to called custumer service at rooms to go but was told that there is nothing they can do about it that I would need to contact the sales person.

When I spoke to the sales person he will tell me that I would need to call custumer service about it. So after days of getting the runaround I am stuck with a very expensive bed that I can not sleep on.

Same exact issue with same mattress. Two different sales associates swore this mattress would help my bad back and neck.

They both had the same mattress at home they stated. This mattress has me in worse pain and now my husband who never has back pain also is miserable in pain.

These associates are pushing these mattresses with lies to get that commission check! Never again buying from there.

Guest

I agree don’t by From rooms to go

Guest

I agree this this , i also was miss led, from the sales person about the thermapedic.... they wont take care of customers.. all they want is their sale, and the return policy of there mattress should be changed,

Guest

we have the same issue as you are having. The sales lady lied and said we would have no problem returning the bed if not satisfied we were able to speak to the manager and he was no help.

Stay far away from purchasing any mattress from this store. The sales people will say anything just to make a sale. They are very dishonest and this actually starts from the managers as he had stated he does not want the employees to inform the customers about the return policy. He went as far as asking me if I ask the sales associate about the return policy.

I informed him that when my daughter and I were walking to the clearance section the sales associate stated "if you purchase a mattress from there it will be very difficult to return it" so as far as I am concerned I took that as I can do a return if I was not satisfied with the mattress. Well he didn't know what to say to that.

So the sales associates will lie to the consumer just to make a buck and the consumer is stuck with a *** mattress. People read the small print as that is what the store manager had stated to me this will save you a head ache in the future.

Guest

I am recently having the same problem I purchased an almost $1,000 bed from rooms to go and I am in so much pain the mattress is hurting my body so bad and I see they are not taking back mattresses. I am trying to warn everyone I know about It bc they have way too many places that let you try out the mattress and rooms to go will not even consider taking the mattress back to exchange for one that will not cause me pain.

Guest

I just went through the same thing. A temperpedic is supposed to spring back meanwhile I feel like I'm sliding off the side of the bed.

A technician came, measured it a photographed it and sent to the main office.

He even felt the difference. But....they say it doesn't match the manufacturers quality to return it.

I paid around $6,000 for it. Unreal and pissed off.

Lousy Furniture

The bed was not set up correctly and the slats to hold the mattress up were not long enough. The techs did not even screw the slats in and when I laid in the bed the first night, the bed fell to the floor! Also, the techs set the bed up touching my wall so it took a chunk of paint out of the wall. I went to move the bed and when I went to move the bed, the foot board came completelt detached from the bed frame! This has been a pure nightmare. They also broke my mirror when they were delivering it. They screwed up my address and delivery date and I had to sleep on the floor for a week and I have Lupus. I will NEVER buy from Rooms To Go AGAIN!!!

Seriously at the price you pay the name should be: *** To Go!

It's not high quality furniture will not last a lifetime. It's a bargain price for a REASON.

Some say well nothing lasts a lifetime buy teak it will. A kitchen table was destroyed in Flori-duh when the bulky larger than life black man rolled it in instead of carrying the package in. My pleas to please carry it in were met with a deaf ear as two skinny black men stood by aimlessly. The chairs fell apart quickly these were carried in carefully.

I couldn't repair the chairs I tried to give the table & chairs away to the buyers of my house the hefty little boy fell quickly to the floor.

At least the sale of house wasn't canceled!

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING ONLINE FROM ROOMS TO GO

I ordered the Masimo Reclining Collection of their online website. Paid around 1700.00 for it. Took two weeks to get the delivery, because I needed a Saturday delivery. I was out of town on a business trip but my husband accepted the furniture and signed for it. When I got home on Friday, we started trying to put the pieces together. Somehow they have to snap in place to each other. While unsuccessfully trying to get the set snapped together, we noticed how ill made it was. The cushion of the chair on the left hand side, has already been flattened. Flattened like someone had already sat in it for 5 years. The sewing of the leather in the mid section is all gapped up. We have had this furniture LESS than a week now! It's not like I've had it for months or years...this is LESS than a WEEK. So, I just call their so called online support department. They told me " It has been more than 48 hours and there is absolutely NOTHING they or we can do about it now." I spoke with 3 different people and they all told me the same thing, I paid cash using a debit card so I am totally screwed apparently! Whatever you do, do NOT BUY anything from these scam artist. ROOMS TO GO ONLINE NOR AT THIS POINT WOULD I BUY FROM THEM AT THEIR STORES. kb DALLAS, TEXAS

Bad customer service

I placed an order for 2 items of furniture and got a really positive response very quickly, as I was pleased I replied saying that I would like to place a further order and I was not willing to pay a surcharge because I live 'north of watford' their reply was to the effect that it was now 2 orders and it was the best value around, anyway converation was rather rude after that and ended when they told me my order will be cancelled as its 'NOT WORTH THE HASSLE'. This is not good customer service after all I was ONLY wanting to spend £1500 with them. Long and short go to yourfurnitureonline not only much cheaper they have more pleasant sales operators.

TERRIBLE Delivery Service

We purchased as bedroom set from the Ocala RTG and it was delivered in 2 deliveries. On day one, the footboard and one side rail to the bed were damaged and the mattress sagged 2 inches in the middle. While waiting for the rest of the furniture, RTG sent out a mattress tech who measured the mattress, and changed the support rails form wood to metal. The bed then only sagged about 3/4 inch. Not hearing anything from RTG until they called to confirm the second delivery date for the rest of the furniture, I asked customer service about the mattress. I was told the mattress was." in specs " for sag and would not be replaced until it sagged at least 1-1/2 inches. It took a minute but I got the rep to realize the mattress had not even been slept on when it was sagging like that. They agreed to replace the mattress. When they delivered the rest of the bedroom set on Saturday, The dresser was damaged, one of the night stands was damaged, the replacement footboard was damaged and one of the delivery men put his cordless drill on the chest of drawers. When they were changing the mattress they hit the drill and it slid across the chest scratching the top. RTG is replacing all the damaged product. This is where the problem starts. The next scheduled delivery was for a weekday and the delivery people did not call with the time. I called them the morning of the delivery and was told they would be there between 10am & 2pm. Nobody showed up so I left to try and salvage some workday. This was the 4th day I had tied up with this furniture purchase-3 delivery days and 1 day waiting for the service tech who do not give a time other than some time during the day. I have told them repeatedly that I can not lose any more work because of this and the delivery must be first thing in the morning like they did for the 2nd delivery of the original order. All RTG customer service will do is give a 4 hr window and lay it off on the delivery service. Well the delivery service has messed up by damaging the furniture, not even showing up for 1 delivery and has refused to work with the customer who has to work to pay for the furniture that they deliver. RTG is allowing the sub-contractor they hire to deliver the furniture to their customers determine the level of RTG customer service. We have tried to reschedule twice in the past 2 weeks and they keep calling with a 10am to 2pm time frame which is unacceptable. I even spoke to the dispatcher for the delivery company explaining the situation and I was told they deliver until 10pm. This was perfect and I asked the dispatcher to schedule that time frame. She stated that RTG customer service would have to call and schedule the delivery. Well, it was back to the same run around-4 hr window and up to the delivery service. After two more attempts when they called with a 10am - 2pm delivery time. Both times I called RTG customer svc and declined the delivery time & rescheduled. Both times, the delivery company called me stating their driver was at my house and no one was there. They just don't get it! They are still allowing their subcontractor to dictate to their customers when they will take delivery of their furniture. If RTG cannot control their subcontractors, I don't see myself making any more purchases from them.

I’m sorry for the headache and frustration that this experience has caused. Anything more than one delivery is too many and should have been addressed when our offices were first informed of the damages.

I certainly understand your frustration of needing a specific time frame, but in order for us to ensure that all scheduled deliveries are completed the stops are routed geographically. We understand situations as such and can try to work these requests but they are not always able to be granted.

If you can send us an email to tellus@***.com with your order information, we can take a look at your account to see how often we are in the area and what we can do to get everything set up and taken care of for you.
